DEVELOPING THE INNOVATION CAPACITY OF HYNAMAT SRL BY OBTAINING NEW TYPES OF NANOSTRUCTURED HYBRID POWDERS BASED ON NANOSTRUCTURED BIOCOMPATIBLE CERAMIC MATERIALS AND COMMERCIAL POLYMERS WITH BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS • SPIN-OFF HYNAMAT

Domain: 4. ECO-NANO-TECHNOLOGIES AND ADVANCED MATERIALS
Subdomains: 4.4.2 Polymeric materials, nanomaterials, nanotechnologies and 4.4.3 Materials and technologies for health

        The main objective of the project is the creation of a spin-off based on a patent and the development of innovative products within the new enterprise, to be launched on the market of nanostructured biomaterials, an economic sector with growth potential. The project director, Mrs. Laura Madalina Popescu, is one of the inventors of the patent, is currently employed at the National Research-Development Institute for Non-Ferrous and Rare Metals (INCDMNR-IMNR), the patent holder, and aims to establish and project spin-off development.

            Specific Objectives:
  • Capitalization of the results from the patent by invention through the development of two new products, within 24 months;
  • Submission of one patent application as a result of the realization of the project, within 24 months;
  • Attracting 10 new researchers in the spin-off (2.5 full-time equivalent jobs) within 24 months;
  • Achieving a turnover of at least 150,000 lei, within 60 months (implementation period + sustainability period);
  • Attracting a number of 20 clients of the results obtained in the project, within 60 months .

     The project aims at scientific and production research, development and realization of nanostructured hybrid powders based on hydroxyapatite and commercial polymers with biomedical applications. The enterprise will base its activity on activities of capitalization of the results of a previous research. The research result from which the company will start is the Patent of invention no. 128603 / 15.11.2014, whose owner is IMNR (inventors are: R.M. Piticescu, L.M. Popescu - Project Director -, T. Buruiana, E. Vasile), entitled "Nanostructured hybrid powders for medical applications". The new products that will be developed within the project are: Hiphap (nanostructured hybrid powder) and Hiphap 3D (3D structure based on nanostructured hybrid powder). The new products will be used in the medical industry to fill bone defects, reconstruct bone defects, bone grafts, additive manufacture of bone implants for dental use or bone prostheses. Moreover, the products can be used in the pharmaceutical industry, being studied as a carrier of drugs or biomolecules.
